Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention Community Walk

Friends & Family,

I currently work for the Defense Suicide Prevention Office (DSPO), which helps to prevent Active-duty Service member suicides and encourage Service members to seek help. This year, my office will be joining with thousands of people nationwide this fall to walk in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's (AFSP) Out of the Darkness Community Walk in Washington, DC on September 20, 2014.

I have been directly affected by suicide in many ways. I have seen friends and family suffer from depression and other mental health issues, and I myself have suffered from depression and anxiety. We need to continue of help people with these issues by showing them that things do get better and that there are so many resources available.

As of today, I have raised $255 to end suicide! While I have already reached my personal fundraising goal of $150, every dollar counts towards preventing suicide. Even if you can only give $1-10 dollars, any amount is greatly appreciated, and all donations are 100% tax deductible.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is at the forefront of research, advocacy, education and prevention initiatives designed to reduce loss of life from suicide. With more than 38,000 lives lost each year in the U.S. and over one million worldwide, the importance of AFSP's mission has never been greater, nor our work more urgent.

Donating online is safe and easy! To make an online donation, visit my Donation Page.
